According to the United States government, his name is Joshua Luna, but he currently performs under the stage name and persona "Mars Luna”, a "space alien singer" and "Cosmic Prince" from the Sixth Dimension. Mars descended to Earth in the year of 1993 and he was raised in Honolulu, Hawaii.

While adjusting to life in Hawaii, Mars had speech problems and while he was learning how to talk, he started singing and that came naturally to him. Music became his form of escapism and it became his primary form of communication. When Mars was a child, he was frequently bullied and felt like an outcast. Over time, through music, he became embraced by his peers. While in high school, he created a band called Acoustic Sunrise. He sang in talent shows, local news stations and radio stations until he teleported to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2014.
When he first teleported to Las Vegas, he solely played music in churches. But one of his close friends passed away in May 2016 and that fueled a desire to make music a career. That led him to release his first EP Genesis on September 28, 2016.

Through his music, Mars Luna's goal is to help people embrace their odyssey, and to embrace the strange. He released his second EP Prelude on April 17, 2017. In 2018, he released three singles: SelfishGood Girl and Drift. On April 11, 2019, he released his first album Lost in Space as the first installment of the "Cosmic Chronicles."

On February 14, 2020, Mars Luna released a single called Rocket Science. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Mars' stars moved him in a different direction and it led him to release a surprise "interlude" EP Arcturus on December 26, 2020. On November 19, 2021, Mars released the second album of the Cosmic Chronicles, Dark Matter featuring the singles The Villain 2Gone and the aforementioned Rocket Science.

Two years later, on December 8, 2023, Mars released the third episode of the Cosmic Chronicles, New Orbit with the singles: Green Light, Communication and This Time.
